Vasco went to Horizon Plaza today to search for a small piece of furniture for Alice. Unfortunately, it was not a lucky day for furniture hunting. Vasco found 2 cupcake bakeries though.Vasco chose Babycakes, and bought 4 colorful cupcakes home. Vasco loves the cupcakes, he is very disturbed by the amount of packaging...for 4 cupcakes, 1 paper box, a plastic tray, a plastic individual package for the 4th cupcake. What's wrong with that shop? The bakery sells the idea that their cupcakes are good for kids, but it certainly is not good for the environment!
Vasco doesn't think he will be going back to Babycakes.

We are also very concerned about the packaging here at Babycakes that is why we did not product large bags for our Babycake boxes. We also used to have only disposable plates, cups and cutlery in our cafe but now use reusable metal cutlery, hard plastic plates, ceramic mugs and plastic cups for cold drinks and kids. We are concerned about the environment and last week in fact contacted the good peeople at www.gaiakraft.com to discuss our packaging and to make them even more environmentally friendly. We also use Seventh Generation cleaning products in our kitchen where possible. Please do not judge us simply on your one experience as behind the scenes were are working hard to be the most environmentally friendly bakery in Hong Kong, and that is not an easy task!! Thank you again for coming to visit us and I hope with this you will keep supporting us and encouraging us to work even harder to become more environmentally friendly! Your friends at Babycakes...
