Hongkongness...

Vasco was taught a lesson about 'Hongkongness' today! After a very happy meal in Kowloon City, Alice spotted another extremely 'popular' restaurant. This one selling noodle and fish balls. Don't ask Vasco about fish balls. Alice was already getting excited. Phil just threw his hands in the air.

The only proof that this may be a 'good' restaurant is the queue outside the restaurant. Alice's theory is that if there is anyone waiting in the middle of the day, it must be good. Can we all jump into the queue as well? She explains that one quality of being Hongkongers is the ability to get into a queue and wait for 45 minutes for a table in a restaurant. Dim sum on Sunday is a perfect example.

Vasco sometimes doesn't quite understand that girl...

Hedgehog for democracy

Hedgehog went voting last Sunday (Sept 7). We walked all the way done to the polling station in our area. He voted for his favorite democratic candidate. Actually it was not that difficult for him to choose a candidate because he would like someone who actually cares about people who don't speak Cantonese. It was quite amazing that many candidates never consider the voter who don't speak Cantonese. Everything was in Chinese. Hedgehog found it a bit offensive that in a bilingual society, English is still the official language, political candidates treated non-Chinese reading/speaking voters as invisible.
